Day 40 (Difficult)

June 16, 2022

Today was an incredibly difficult day but not for any particular reason. The weather was beautiful,

I’m starting to get a bit homesick. Today I was thinking about clouds and generative modeling. It would be incredibly fun to spend an afternoon doing a small literature and programming some visualizations or physical models. However, what I do is pedal.

I barely got 55 miles in, that was with an enormous effort and a pretty long ferry right added into the mileage.

The highlight of my day was when I left my door open and a strange cat wandered into my bed. Strange cat

I started in Moss, took a ferry and followed along the coast. The ferry I was intending to take that connects some islands isn’t in service until June 24 which put a pretty big wrench in my plans. I went around the fjord which reminded me of the San Juans and hid under some bridges to avoid rain.

From there it was a bit of a climb heading into Porsgrunn. The nearby campground wasn’t open and Norway is way too expensive for accommodations so I’m wild camping tonight. I found an area that was recently logged and just off the highway and setup. I’m typing this from my tent at 9PM. I’m very tired. Here’s hoping for energy tomorrow.

I’m now considering only going to Kristiansand. From there I can take a ferry to Hirthals and then a train to Copenhagen. I think a couple city days and a (comparatively cheap, everything is insane right now) flight home next week is in the cards.
