Day 13 (Legs Taketh)

May 20, 2022

I was super slow today. The climb yesterday took a lot out of me. I had a little bit less miles and less of a climb today, but I felt bad right from the start. I didn’t eat enough.

I ended in Douvaine, France after passing through Geneva. No camp sites available and while there were some potential wild sites I was on the edge. If I’m feeling fresh tomorrow the plan is to make my way to Vevey, Switzerland and then throw myself at the hill to make it to about Montbovon.

Some beautiful landscapes, especially looking out into France and Switzerland and the top of the hill. I took a couple wrong turns and found myself throwing my bike over my shoulder and hiking with it. My body and back feel a lot stronger than they did just last week.

I took a fairly direct route to Geneva after the climb. I skipped meals and tried to make up for it with gummy bears but it didn’t work out. Still tuning the food consumption.

Not too much to say. Still did 100km which is my rough daily target. The hill was murderous today. Everyone in Geneva has electric bikes and which was very confusing for about 10 minutes.

The lake was neat. The amount of swimming was surprising. The quai de Cologny in particular but I unfortunately didn’t get a picture.
