Day 22 (Not Feeling It)

May 29, 2022

I woke up exhausted and not especially feeling it. It drizzled a bit. I very slowly got ready and lazed about at the provided breakfast. I was quite confused why my body felt as it did but couldn’t diagnosis it. I started pedaling around 11 AM with an over ambitious goal of 80 miles.

My progress was horrible. There was a strong headwind and I was having difficulty getting much above 9 MPH, some of which was my energy problem. It was farm fields most of the way and then boredom started to set in very quickly. I went through several towns but nothing was standing out. I forced myself to eat in the event it was a blood sugar problem.

The rain started but never got terribly strong and last for perhaps forty five minutes.

I kept pedaling. Around 4 PM I stopped to eat and revised my plan. There was a hotel for €50 twenty miles out instead of forty for the campground I had planned. I booked it.

I got cut off by a triathlon in progress. I initially thought it was just an incredibly bike friendly town that really liked aero bars. I took a detour to avoid as much intersection with the course I could. This proved difficult.

At some point with an hour left in the ride. The sky parted, everything became beautiful, and I was having a great ride.

I checked into the hotel. I need to shower. Not sure what the plan for tomorrow is, but I suspect it involves a bike.
